Description:
Navigating college for the first time can be a bit nerve racking, especially if you're the first in your family to attend college! Join the Family1st FYAC to navigate this uncharted territory together with other first-generation college students and a professional staff member, who is also a first-generation college student. In the Family1st FYAC we will explore what it means to be a first-generation college student at UC Davis while building a tight nit community on a large campus through personal narratives and self-exploration.

Did you know over 44% of last year’s UC Davis incoming first year (freshman and transfer) class were first-generation college students? A First-Generation—“First-Gen”—student is someone who is the first in their family to attend college or someone whose parents did not obtain a degree at a four-year university. At UC Davis, being a First-Gen student means many things: community, identity, and pride—as well as additional questions and anxieties. This series of Connections celebrate the work you have done to get to UC Davis and answer the questions you did not know you had about college. In addition to checking out the other #FirstGenProud Connections, we hope you seek out our campus partners in EOP, EAOP, STEP, and First of Many who are hosting other Connections just for you!

How to join this Connection: In order to officially register for this Connection, click “Add to Cart” and then “View Cart”, and then “Continue,” and finally “Proceed to Checkout”. All Connections are free to join! Make sure that the meeting times fit with your fall class schedule
